Your story, told for
the job you want.
Most resume tools match keywords. jobkit interviews you first, reads every posting on employers' own job boards, and builds each resume to lead with what that job needs, from your real experience. Free and open source.

I built jobkit for my own job search. With it, my cold applications turn into interviews at about double the average rate.1
Here is what I learned along the way. More and more companies use AI to screen resumes before a person ever reads them. A general resume, written to cover a whole field, rarely shows why you fit this job, so it gets filtered out even when you would be great at the work. You need your own AI on your side: one that knows your real experience and tells that story in the language of each job.
A rejection should mean the job was not the right fit. It should never mean your resume failed to show that you were.
Three steps. No coding.
You talk to it in plain English. It does every technical step itself.
Download and unzip
Click Download jobkit. Open the file you downloaded: on a Mac, double-click it; on Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All.
Move the jobkit folder to your Documents.
Open it in Claude
Install the Claude desktop app
and sign in. Go to the Code tab and open the jobkit folder.
Drop any old resumes, transcripts or papers into My Job Search/intake.
Say hello
Type set me up and answer its questions, in as many sittings as you like.
After that, any day: run my job search
What makes it different
It starts from you, not from one resume and a keyword list.
It learns your real story
It reads your old documents, then asks what you built yourself versus only used, and which numbers you can stand behind. Nothing counts until you confirm it.
It reads the jobs for you
Postings straight from employers' own job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Oracle, iCIMS and more), judged on what the job actually asks, not its title.
Two judges score the fit
Each posting that might fit is scored on a fixed scale, and you hear which ones to skip and why. A judge has to quote the posting to prove it read it.
A resume for each job
It leads with the experience that job needs, including that project you would have forgotten. Every line is something you approved; a made-up line is refused.
You stay in charge
It drafts; you decide and apply on the employer's own page. A simple tracker shows everything you have built and applied to.
What it costs
jobkit itself is free and open source. You pay only for Claude, which jobkit runs inside.
What it will never do
By design, and checked by the program itself.
Questions
Do I need to know how to code, or use GitHub?
No. Download the zip from this page and talk to it in plain English. Claude runs every technical step.
How long does setup take?
Two to four hours of conversation, in as many sittings as you like (shorter if you drop in your old
documents first). Type set me up again any time to continue where you left off.
Does it work for my field?
It is built for any field: nursing, software, finance, research, teaching, government, nonprofits and more. It also finds the job board of any employer you name.
Is my information private?
Everything about you stays in the My Job Search folder on your computer. jobkit only uses what you
put there and what you tell it.
What are the limits?
- The judges are AI, not recruiters: a score is a judgment of fit, not a promise of an interview.
- It searches the job boards in the packs you choose plus employers you add; some sites block automated reading.
- It never invents anything, but it cannot verify what you tell it.
- Tested on Mac so far; Windows is supported but new. The full list is in the README.
Something went wrong. Where do I tell you?
Tell Claude what you see first: it fixes most problems itself. If it cannot, report it here.
